Migration Seminars

6 December 2011: On the evening of Tuesday, 6 December 2011, in Joondalup, the Immigration Lawyers of M. Rothstein & Co will be providing a free seminar on the recent migration law changes affecting Perth including recent changes to the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme Visa and the classification of the Perth metropolitan area as regional.

These changes to Australian migration law have had a significant effect on the options available to migrants seeking to obtain an Australian permanent residence visa and for Perth businesses trying to find and employ overseas staff. In many cases the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme Visa may be a better option for both employer and the employee than the Subclass 457 Visa.

There are however a significant number of conditions and criteria that both the sponsoring business and the proposed employee must meet in order to qualify for the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme Visa and there are potential traps and pitfalls for those who don't know what to look out for. Furthermore the State Migration centre is currently in the process of changing its regional nomination certification criteria with these further changes proposed to be announced on the 17th of October at a presentation to Perth migration agents. Our seminar the day after will be one of the first opportunities for you to hear what these policy changes might be.

In addition to our presentation on migration law changes, Murray McKinley, a qualified and very experienced accountant from McKinley Plowman & Associates will be presenting a short seminar on tax planning for migrants with a particular focus on tax options for Subclass 457 Visa holders. Many migrants aren't aware of how they can maximise their tax savings and those who have attended our previous seminars have found Murray's presentation very insightful.

If you are a Perth employer looking to sponsor an overseas worker or a migrant seeking information on how to obtain permanent residence please contact Caroline at our office on 08 9228 0300 to book your attendance at our free seminar. Details of the time and place of the seminar will be provided at time of booking. Please note places are strictly limited.
